Apartment building in N. Filadelfia

The six-storey apartment building is located in Nea Filadelfia and consists of five identical apartments and a maisonette which is developed on the last two floors. In terms of design, the goal is the efficient use of the limited space of the floor plan in order to serve the needs of the inhabitants. In this direction, a unified living space is created – living room, dining room and kitchen- opens up directly to the outdoor space, both in a visual and a functional way. At the same time, the private spaces are separated from the shared ones, providing tranquility and privacy, as well as direct connection to their external spaces. Avoiding expensive materials and complex construction techniques, the architectural form is composed with clean volumes, alternation of semi-outdoor and covered spaces and the arrangement of the openings. The roof of the building adds a special morphological element to the composition and provides additional space and height to the last penthouse apartment. The use of architectural protrusions, as another tool for shaping the facades, achieves the integration of the external air conditioning units and network routing into the overall design, allowing a harmoniously structured architectural ensemble.
